1. Information We Do NOT Collect

The "Save Image as JPG" extension is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Images you convert or download
• Websites you visit or browsing history
• Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
• Usage statistics or analytics
• IP addresses or device identifiers
• Cookies or tracking data

2. How the Extension Works

When you right-click an image and select "Save image as JPG", the following happens entirely on your local device:

• The extension fetches the image from the website you're viewing
• The image is converted to JPEG format using your browser's built-in Canvas API
• The converted file is saved directly to your downloads folder
• No data is sent to external servers at any point

3. Permissions Explained

The extension requests certain permissions to function. Here's exactly why each permission is needed and how it's used:

Access your data for all websites

Why: Allows the extension to fetch images from any website you visit, including images hosted on external CDNs or different domains. This bypasses CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) restrictions that would otherwise prevent image conversion.

What it does NOT do: Does not read, collect, or transmit your browsing data, passwords, form inputs, or any other information from websites.

Downloads

Why: Required to save the converted JPEG file to your device's download folder.

Storage

Why: Stores your quality and background color preferences locally on your device so you don't have to reconfigure settings every time.

What's stored: Only your chosen JPEG quality setting (0.70-0.95), background color (hex code), and save dialog preference. Nothing else.

Context Menus

Why: Adds the "Save image as JPG" option to your right-click menu.

Offscreen Documents

Why: Enables background image processing using HTML Canvas API for better performance when converting images.

Active Tab & Scripting

Why: Detects which specific image you right-clicked on a webpage to retrieve its full-resolution URL and dimensions (instead of thumbnail versions).

4. Data Storage

The only data stored by this extension are your personal preferences:

• JPEG Quality: Your preferred quality setting (default: 0.85)
• Background Color: Your chosen background color for transparent images (default: #ffffff)
• Save Dialog: Whether to show "Save As" prompt (default: false)

This data is stored locally using Chrome's chrome.storage.sync API and is synced across your Chrome browsers if you're signed in. It is never transmitted to external servers.

5. Third-Party Services

This extension does NOT use any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external APIs. There are no connections to external servers whatsoever.

6. Children's Privacy

This extension does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. It is safe for users of all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Since the extension doesn't collect any data, changes would only clarify existing practices or reflect new features.

8. Your Rights

Since we don't collect any personal data, there is no data to request, modify, or delete. You have complete control - simply uninstall the extension if you no longer wish to use it, and all stored preferences will be removed.
